Good weekend

Good overall poker weekend, esp. Sunday – 1st place in a 9 man, then 2nd place in another, and a spare $3 won in the capped cash game.

Tourney #2 was the most interesting- I had all the people around me in the right places – 2 tight guys to my left (I stole their blinds repeatedly), and the loosest player to my right so I could see what he was doing before me most of the time. Once I got heads up, I was a 3-1 dog. I played well heads up - even took a brief chip lead, but my opponent was getting great cards (an Ace four hands in a row), and he chopped me down until I eventually had to push all in with Q8 or some garbage and he took first place. He was a good, tight aggressive opponent, perhaps a bit too easy to read (he seemed to bet when he had a hand and checked when he didn't).

I also downloaded PAHUD and tried it out for the first time. Loving it so far – can't wait to see PT3 and how the HUD works. It looks like the developers released the first beta with a HUD this weekend, but it's missing enough features that I think I'll stick with v2 for now. I'm using the basic "trinity" stats in the HUD combined single line on the Full Tilt Racetrack table (racetrack table is much cleaner than the standard table, IMO). I'm also breaking down aggression by street in combined 2, but I'm not using that as much. It helps a ton at a full table.

I also think I’ll be moving up in the cash game to .10/.25. – my current poker bankroll can afford it, plus the cap helps minimize your “risk of ruin”. I think I have a good strategy for this game type – need many more hands to see if it works...

Congrats on your weekend, Kevin. Please allow me to also throw in a few kudos for Hold'em Notebook. It seems like a great app for anyone, but I think it's especially useful for folks like me who are just learning the game.

Cheers!

thanks, but my name isn't Kevin, I think you have me confused with someone else!

Actually, I think I'll switch to my real name on this blog...
