Why do I ignore the little man?

Full Tilt Poker, $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Sit n' Go, 60/120 Blinds, 3 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

SB: 3,830
Hero (BB): 4,414
BTN: 5,256

Pre-Flop: (180) J 4 dealt to Hero (BB)
BTN folds, SB calls 60, Hero checks
A blind vs. blind battle. Ho hum

Flop: (240) J 8 8 (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks
I hit my jack, but my kicker blows. I'm in a way-ahead/way-behind situation here, no need to bet.

Turn:
(240) 9 (2 Players)
SB bets 120, Hero calls 120
Half pot with top pair, worth a call.

River: (480) A (2 Players)
SB bets 120, Hero calls 120
1/4 pot with top pair. I think I'm ahead now, but no need to raise (although, on second look, my 4 kicker is not in play anymore). I call.

Results: 720 Pot
SB showed 9 7 (two pair, Nines and Eights) and LOST (-360 NET)
Hero showed J 4 (two pair, Jacks and Eights) and WON 720 (+360 NET)
Villain hit his 9 and bet it - very straightforward.

Ok, I have a read on him now - straightforward player, nothing fancy.

Here's another hand a bit later, same opponent...

Full Tilt Poker, $20 + $2 NL Hold'em Sit n' Go, 60/120 Blinds, 3 Players

SB: 3,890
Hero (BB): 4,714
BTN: 4,896

Pre-Flop: (180)
K 8 dealt to Hero (BB)
BTN folds, SB calls 60, Hero checks
Blind vs. blind again. Could have raised here, not a horrible hand...

Flop: (240) 7 K 7 (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks
Same deal, paired board - I'm way ahead or way behind, so a bet does no good. Check

Turn: (240) 8 (2 Players)
SB bets 120, Hero calls 120
Same bet as before, same call....

River: (480) 5 (2 Players)
SB bets 480...
But this time, a FULL pot bet. The 5 didn't help him (a 5 in his hand is counterfeited, unless he has 55). He was slowplaying something this time, most likely a 7, right? I should fold. Yup, fold, no need to get involved with a full pot bet here. Definitely fold.

Hero calls 480

Results: 1,440 Pot
SB showed 7 4 (three of a kind, Sevens) and WON 1,440 (+720 NET)
Hero mucked K 8 (two pair, Kings and Eights) and LOST (-720 NET)
And why did I ignore that man in my head this time? Unknown.

Anyway, went on to win this one. I lost another earlier, so I'm 3 wins for 4 tourneys played so far in March.
